About a year ago, my 3 year old son was diagnosed with autism. Like any other parent, I had my fair share of challenges and getting him to read a book with me is just one of them.
I do remember that on one of his therapy sessions, they strongly suggested to read books with him everyday because it would help him with his speech delay and eventually, prepare him for reading. Well, unlike my sisters, I wasn't a big reader myself when I was younger but I was determined to do anything to help my son. I knew it wasn't going to be a walk in the park though.
So I took time to check out books that would interest him and I must say, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. It was hard to look for stories that he would like plus in the middle of doing so, he would just get antsy.
Then I came across Bookbot. It's a wonderful program and makes reading more enjoyable. When I first knew about it, it really made me smile knowing that there were others who knew exactly what I was going through. Being a part of it, makes me so proud and I know my son would be so happy that I am.
